One of the many projects that Oprah Winfrey has undertaken in the last several years is the launch of the Oprah book club. Designed to encourage people to read good quality books and also to promote fairly new writers, Oprah chooses one book a month to promote on her Oprah Winfrey show. The author generally appears on the Oprah Winfrey show and discusses the book with Oprah. To date the Oprah book club has singled out 63 books for its list, most which have gone on to become bestsellers and helped to launch the career of many great writers. On occasion Oprah will feature an old classic as the feature read of the month in her Oprah book club. Recently she featured James Steinbeck's East of Eden which was originally published in 1952. In doing this she has introduced a whole new generation to a beloved classic novel. If you want a book that is a guaranteed good read, pick up any one of the books from the Oprah book club.
