oprah book clubMost of the time I agree with the selections made by the Oprah Book Club, but I do have to take issue with one book, The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. All the time I was reading it, I was wondering two things: 1) how did the book get published, and 2) why did the Oprah Book Club choose it? The book was well written and the mechanics in it were great, but it was one of the most useless stories I think ever needed to be told. I don't think I was the only person who felt that way. My sister gave it to me, and she said that she didn't really enjoy it but that I might. I enjoy a lot of books because I am a compulsive reader. After the first three chapters, I was wondering why did the book get written in the first place.

Once I got into the middle, I was still wondering why the Oprah Book Club chose it, but I stuck it out to the end. Then I gave to my other sister and she had the same reaction as I did. Her book club in New Mexico was also reading it, and the members of it weren't too enthused about it, either. Most of the time I really enjoy the Oprah Book Club selections, but this one was a dud.
